Courts Move Scheduled

The Cherokee Nation Court System will be moving to our new location on the second floor of the Cherokee Nation Complex in the very near future.  We have a targeted date of February 26, 2018 to be completely moved in and functioning in this new location.  Our last Court docket in the Capitol Building will be February 16, 2018 which ends a more than quarter century of modern day court dockets being held in the Capitol Building after our District Court was re-established by the Tribal Council in November of 1990.  Although it is with some sadness that we leave this beloved building to relocate the Court, it is exciting to know that the Capitol building will be returned to its much needed pristine condition and preserved for the education and enjoyment of all tribal members and visitors to the building.  The Capitol Building served the Court well over these past 27 years; however, with the growth of the Court over the years, it became increasingly necessary for the Courts to seek an alternate location.  The Nation has graciously provided the Court with a new facility featuring modern state of the art equipment that we are also excited to move into and hold Court in.

Please bear with us as we transition into the new location over the next few weeks and hopefully with as little disruption to court functions as possible.  Our first scheduled docket in the new facility is set for March 2, 2018 at 9:00 a.m.
