The District Court of the Cherokee Nation serves all 14 counties in the jurisdiction of the tribe. The court handles civil, criminal, and juvenile cases. The civil realm can hear matters of name changes, protective orders, and guardianships. The criminal cases are those that arise on Indian country and are prosecuted by the Cherokee Nation Attorney General’s Office. Juvenile cases handle issues of deprivation and children in need of supervision.
